Online Patient Triage

By contacting us online and answering a few questions we can help with a variety or queries, such as fit (sick) notes, information about recent tests, medication queries or if you are wanting advice regarding new or on-going medical symptoms. We aim to get back to you within 5 days  of a request being submitted.

Please do not use this online form for urgent or emergency requests.  The submitted forms will only be read during office hours.  

Urgent Appointment

To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday):

  • phone us on 01282 500666, Monday to Friday from 8am

Your details will be taken by the receptionist and added to our Same Day Service list.  A health care professional will then call you back to discuss your medical needs and arrange a suitable appointment.  It is important that you keep your phone with you and switched on and that you tell us if you can only take calls at specific times.

 

Nursing team appointments

Our nurses and health care assistants are seeing patients for routine reviews and investigations.  

Telephone consultations

Sometimes it is appropriate and more convenient to deal with a problem over the phone rather than face to face in surgery.

Telephone consultations are available to book with the doctors and nurses. A time will be arranged at which they can ring you back.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

People who miss appointments create an enormous amount of wasted time and resources for the NHS.  If you miss your appointment this will be recorded.  If this happens repeatedly you may be removed from the practice list.  Please note this now also applies to telephone appointments.

To cancel your appointment:

  • use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
  • phone us on01282 500666, Monday to Friday from 8am
  • reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or Call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

A small number of our patients are housebound (unable to leave their home). You are not considered to be housebound if you are able to go out for other reasons such as shopping or to the hairdressers.

 For genuinely housebound people we offer a Home Visit service.  If you require a home visit we would ask that you contact the surgery before 10am so that your visit request can be allocated to an available GP. 

The GP or another member of the practice team may wish to contact you by phone before visiting to clarify the need for a visit.

 After 10am visits will only be available for medical emergencies which cannot wait until the following day.

Where appropriate home visits may be carried out by the Acute Visiting Service which covers the whole of East Lancashire.

Extended hours

 

Patients can now also book appointments every weekday evening and on Saturday and Sunday at St Peters Centre and Padiham Health Centre.  These extended hours sessions are run by the East Lancashire Federation of GPs.  Doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners will have access to your records and will feed back to Prestige Medical Group the outcome of your consultation.  Please see the link on the front page for more details.
